Abstract Nature According to the Oxford dictionary the word “Abstract” has the following meaning: “Relating to or denoting art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but rather seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, colours, and textures.” As a child my mother would constantly remind me to come back to “This World” when I would start seeing things that weren’t tangible to her eyes. Of course we all see amazing things in the cloud formations above us, but I would see faces and objects in rocks or pieces of wood or just about anything…..especially my food. No matter how many times I was reminded to ground myself I was and am always drifting into the abstract visual world. Photography has been my messenger for close to 50 years now. I learned I could share what I see through photography and not embarrass myself or those close to me by constantly talking about the abstract visual world surrounding me. Now my photographs are my words and there is no longer a need to verbalize my imaginary life to anyone, unless they want to hear about it. Black and white photographs from the “Abstract Project” are available to purchase. They are printed on beautiful Hahnemuehle Fine Art Baryta paper. In addition to these traditional prints many of the works are available as wall hangings in larger sizes and on various surfaces, designed by myself. Examples might include copper, multi-layer face mounted plexi, wood products and exotic handmade paper products from various Asian islands. Because I am constantly experimenting with new presentation possibilities it is always a good idea to contact our studio regarding up-to-date creations. The sizes of these pieces will vary depending on the materials available at the time. Please call our studio to inquire about what is available or check in with of the galleries representing these works.
